This position, operating under the supervision of the Program Coordinator for the Office of GT, offers a unique chance to contribute to the educational landscape of Arkansas. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert technical assistance, valuable resources, and ongoing support to schools in effectively educating students identified as needing Gifted and Talented services.
- Supporting schools in the successful implementation of advanced and accelerated learning programs and pathways, including the prestigious Advanced Placement programs.
- Contributing to grant administration for grants managed by the Office of GT, ensuring resources are effectively utilized to enhance GT programs.
- Actively engaging with stakeholders and agency partners to build strong relationships and collaborative initiatives.
- Informing agency policy and procedures related to gifted and advanced learners, ensuring that policies are effective and beneficial.

Key Functions of the Public School Program Advisor:
As a Program Advisor, you will be responsible for a variety of functions designed to enhance educational programs in Arkansas schools. These include:
- Providing supplemental educational services that align with the curriculum frameworks and content used by local school districts, ensuring consistency and quality of instruction.
- Designing, implementing, and rigorously evaluating program compliance and the effectiveness of training, curricula, and related educational services within local school districts and regional units.
- Conducting informative workshops and seminars to present critical information related to specialized program areas, and providing essential in-service training to educators.
- Offering technical assistance to school officials by expertly interpreting laws and policies, effectively answering questions, and efficiently resolving problems related to assigned program areas.
- Conducting thorough research and analysis of demographic, labor market, and technological data to make informed recommendations on education programs that meet evolving needs.
- Acting as a key liaison with education and public interest groups, keeping them informed of departmental activities and proactively identifying emerging needs within the educational community.
What You Need to Succeed:
To excel in this role, you will need a strong foundation of knowledge, skills, and abilities, including:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the organization and operation of public schools.
- In-depth knowledge of the rules, regulations, and statutes pertaining to program areas within education.
- Proficiency in consultative practices and techniques to effectively advise and support schools.
- Strong planning, research, and analysis skills, with the ability to apply these techniques effectively.
- Excellent ability to plan and organize comprehensive reports that are clear, concise, and informative.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws and regulations governing school programs.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, rigorously evaluate, and effectively monitor the effectiveness of programs and services within your assigned program area.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in public administration, educational administration, education, or a closely related field.
- Five years of relevant experience in education, public school administration, or a related field.
