Alliance Career Center Programs Set to Close After Years of Community Education

After dedicating years to adult education within the community, the Alliance Career Center (ACC) will conclude its programs following the completion of this year’s courses. This decision marks a shift in focus for Alliance City Schools, prioritizing resources towards pre-K through high school students.

ACC has been a cornerstone for adult learners in Alliance, Ohio, providing diverse career advancement opportunities. The center’s programs have included in-demand fields such as cosmetology, medical billing and coding, State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA), and welding. Notably, ACC was also home to the Robert T. White School of Practical Nursing, further solidifying its commitment to healthcare education.

Superintendent Rob Gress stated, “We take immense pride in the positive impact the career center has had on our community over the years. However, to ensure the district achieves its overarching goals, we must concentrate our efforts and resources on educating students from preschool through 12th grade. Preparing Alliance’s young individuals for future life, higher education, and various career paths is our utmost priority. We are fortunate to have numerous excellent organizations in and around Alliance that are well-equipped to offer similar adult education programs.”

For current students and alumni of Alliance Career Center Programs needing transcripts, access will remain available. Individuals can request their ACC transcripts by filling out the designated form on the Alliance High School website: https://www.alliancecityschools.org/o/high-school. On the homepage, career center graduates should click the “Alumni Transcript Request” button to access and complete the necessary form.

With the closure of the career center, some services offered at ACC will see changes. PearsonVue testing, previously hosted at ACC, will no longer be available at this location after the closure. Individuals seeking PearsonVue testing can find alternative locations through the PearsonVue website: https://home.pearsonvue.com/.

However, background check services will continue to be provided by Alliance City Schools. Updated operating hours for background checks will be published on the Alliance City Schools website, www.alliancecityschools.org, following the official closure of ACC.
