Bonnie Laiderman: Championing Veterans Home Care Through the VetAssist Program

Bonnie Laiderman stands as a pivotal figure in the realm of veterans home care, best known as the founder and Chairwoman Emeritus of Veterans Home Care®. Driven by a personal understanding of the challenges veterans and their families face, Bonnie established the company and pioneered the VetAssist® Program. This unique program has been instrumental in assisting over 20,000 veterans and their spouses in accessing essential in-home care benefits.

The inception of Veterans Home Care in 2003 was a direct response to a significant gap in veteran support systems. Bonnie recognized that numerous veterans were not leveraging the benefits available to them through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), primarily due to a lack of awareness and complex application processes. Her own experience as a caregiver for her mother, during which she struggled to navigate and secure VA benefits, fueled her determination to create a more accessible and supportive system for veterans seeking home care.

Under Bonnie’s leadership, Veterans Home Care has experienced remarkable growth. What began as a solo endeavor has blossomed into a nationally recognized enterprise. It proudly stands as one of the largest women-owned companies in the St. Louis Metro Region, extending its services across 48 states through a vast network of over 4,000 home care providers. This expansive reach underscores the significant impact of Bonnie’s vision and the effectiveness of the VetAssist Program in meeting the needs of veterans nationwide.

The company’s commitment to ethical practices and outstanding service has been consistently recognized. Veterans Home Care is a recipient of the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Ethics, a testament to its integrity and responsible business conduct. Furthermore, the company has been honored seven times with the Inc. 5000 Award of Fastest Growing Companies, highlighting its dynamic growth and success in the competitive home care industry.
