The Farm & Wildlife Center at Green Chimneys quickly became an integral part of Markus’s therapeutic journey. His innate connection with animals provided him with a unique avenue for emotional regulation and skill development. “They seem to know when you’re stressed,” Markus observed, highlighting the intuitive and calming presence of animals. This connection blossomed into active participation in animal care, encompassing a wide range of farm activities and culminating in a prestigious apprenticeship in the Teaching Barn. This earned position, reflecting significant responsibility and independence, allowed Markus to deepen his involvement in animal care and solidify his skills.
