Are you a high school student in the Seattle-Tacoma area exploring future career paths? The Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) Seattle opens doors to the world of accounting and business for underrepresented minority students. Established in 1980 by concerned accountants who noticed the lack of diversity in the field, ACAP Seattle is a non-profit organization dedicated to showing students like you the exciting opportunities available in accounting and related business professions. ACAP believes that preparing for a successful business career starts early, and their programs are designed to inspire and guide you from your high school years.
The cornerstone of ACAP Seattle is its immersive summer residency week program, held annually at the prestigious University of Washington Foster School of Business since 1982. This intensive program is specifically for motivated sophomores, juniors, and seniors from high schools across the Greater Seattle/Tacoma region. Imagine spending a week living the college life – residing on campus, utilizing university facilities, and learning essential skills like budgeting and time management, all within a supportive college environment. Thanks to the generous support of business partners and community donors, this invaluable experience is provided completely free of charge to participating students and their families.
During the ACAP Seattle residency week, you’ll be introduced to the dynamic fields of accounting, business, economics, and finance through an engaging and interactive curriculum. Learn directly from accounting and business professionals, esteemed University of Washington faculty, government and community mentors, and successful ACAP alumni. This unique blend of perspectives provides a comprehensive understanding of career possibilities and the steps needed to achieve your goals. You’ll gain insights into various accounting specializations, explore entrepreneurial paths, and develop a solid foundation in financial principles. The program is designed to be highly interactive, ensuring you are actively involved in your learning and get the most out of this unique opportunity to explore accounting careers.
