The Advocate Children’s Hospital-Park Ridge Pediatrics Residency Program is excited to announce that, in line with recommendations from the AAMC and APPD, all interviews for the 2024-2025 season will be conducted virtually. This format ensures the safety and convenience of all applicants, and we are confident that our virtual interview process will provide ample opportunity for you to learn about our program and for us to get to know you.
Virtual Interview Season Details
Our interview season for the Advocate Children’s Hospital-Park Ridge Pediatrics Residency program will run from mid-October to mid-January. We have designed our virtual interview day to be accommodating to medical students engaged in clinical rotations and to welcome interviewees from all time zones. This virtual approach underscores our commitment to accessibility and inclusivity within our pediatrics program.
Holistic Application Review
Advocate Children’s Hospital-Park Ridge is dedicated to a holistic review process. We evaluate all applications based on merit, irrespective of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, disability, or any other legally protected group status. Our aim is to find the best candidates who align with our program’s mission, vision, and values within the field of pediatrics.
Application Requirements
To apply for a position in our pediatrics residency program, all applications must be submitted through ERAS and include the following components:
- Complete ERAS application
- USMLE Step 1 or COMLEX Level 1 Score submitted with application (Step 2/Level 2 scores are required by February 1)
- Personal Statement outlining your interest in pediatrics
- Dean’s Letter (MSPE)
- Three (3) letters of recommendation (a Chair’s letter is not mandatory)
Interview Offer Process
Interview invitations will be sent via email using Thalamus. To respect clinical rotation schedules, we will extend offers after 4pm CST. We are committed to ethical practices and will not extend more interview offers than we have available positions in our program.
Interview Day Structure
Interviews will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays. To enhance your interview experience and allow you to get acquainted with our residents, we will host a virtual meet and greet with current residents the evening before each interview, from 6:30-7:30pm CST. We believe this virtual format provides a relaxed and informative setting to learn more about our Advocate Children’s Hospital-Park Ridge Pediatrics Residency Program.
