The 2020 Summer Career Exploration Program for Sophomores at Nunez Community College made this a reality. Participants engaged in exciting activities right on the Nunez campus, ventured out on field trips to local businesses, and learned directly from industry leaders. This dynamic approach ensured students gained practical insights and real-world understanding of different professions.
Sandy Lloyd, a parent from New Orleans, enthusiastically shared her son JJ’s positive experience from the previous year’s program, stating, “This is an awesome program! My son JJ completed this last year and gained insight into careers and educational opportunities available. The 2020 Summer Career Exploration Program ran Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering a structured and engaging schedule. Thanks to the Carl D. Perkins grant, this valuable opportunity was available to students completely free of charge, removing financial barriers to career exploration. While open to all high school-age students, preference was given to incoming ninth and tenth graders, making it an ideal experience for sophomores to start planning their academic and professional journey early.
