American Express Buying a Car Program: Important Updates and Program Discontinuation

Effective April 28, 2025, American Express will decommission its Auto Purchasing Program, making it no longer accessible. It’s crucial for users intending to utilize the American Express Buying A Car Program to note this discontinuation and understand the key dates to ensure they can still benefit from available offers.

Any price offers or benefits previously available through the American Express Auto Purchasing Program will officially expire on their originally stated end dates. Users who have been considering leveraging this program should act promptly. However, there is a limited extension for certain benefits. TrueCar’s Buyer’s Bonus will remain available for purchases completed through the American Express Auto Purchasing Program, provided these purchases are reported by June 19, 2025.

To ensure eligibility for the TrueCar Buyer’s Bonus, purchases made via the American Express Auto Purchasing Program must be reported within 45 days of the purchase date, and crucially, no later than June 19, 2025. Reporting these purchases after April 28, 2025, must be done by directly calling 1-877-924-2922.

American Express offers no guarantees regarding vehicle purchases made through this program. The responsibility for fulfilling benefits associated with the service lies solely with TrueCar and the Participating Dealers. Similarly, the opportunity to use your American Express Card for at least $2,000 of the purchase price is managed by the participating Certified Dealer and is subject to credit limitations.
