CNA Certification: Your Pathway to Professional Recognition
Upon successful completion of the allgen.care Nurse Assistant Training Program, you will be eligible to apply for the state Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) examination. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the official certification agency for CNAs in California, requires candidates to possess a valid United States legal identification and social security card to take the examination. Please note that CDHP mandates the completion of both the “Request for Live Scan Service” and the CNA initial application on the first day of class, both of which require your social security number.
Passing the state CNA exam is a significant achievement that officially certifies you as a Nurse Assistant by the State of California, opening doors to numerous rewarding career opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Eligibility and Entrance Requirements for the Program
To ensure patient safety and program suitability, the allgen.care Nurse Assistant Training Program has specific eligibility and entrance requirements:
Eligibility Requirements:
- All students will undergo Live Scan fingerprinting on the first day of class.
- Clinical placements are conducted at various sites in El Cajon, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, National City, San Diego, and Santee. Students are responsible for their transportation to these locations.
- The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) rigorously reviews Live Scan/Department of Justice results to determine student clearance to continue in the program. Students who do not receive clearance from CDPH will unfortunately not be able to proceed with the training.
- CDPH evaluates criminal convictions for any offense as per Health and Safety Code Section 1337.9(c).
- Individuals with prior convictions or concerns about clearance eligibility can proactively request an “inquiry” with the California Department of Public Health. For detailed information, please visit the CDPH website or contact them directly at 916-327-2445 or [email protected].
Entrance Requirements:
- Attendance at a mandatory orientation session is a prerequisite for enrollment. This 2.5-hour orientation includes a basic assessment to gauge program readiness. Reasonable accommodations for assessments are available for eligible students with verified disabilities.
- During orientation, we comprehensively explain the entrance criteria and introduce students to the diverse training options within Healthcare Careers, including pathways for professional growth beyond Nursing Assistant training. Students who are not initially eligible for the Nursing Assistant training program will be guided towards suitable alternative options.
- Eligible students will receive a comprehensive application packet during the orientation session. This packet contains three essential forms: a physical exam form, a Tuberculosis (TB) clearance form, and an immunizations form.
- Important Note: We strongly advise students to wait until they receive the application packet before obtaining a physical exam or TB exam. Exams obtained prematurely may expire and require repetition, leading to unnecessary costs and delays.
Program Costs and Financial Considerations
The Job Training/Certificate Program itself is tuition-free, making it an accessible pathway to a healthcare career. However, students are responsible for certain associated expenses, estimated to be approximately $400. These costs cover essential learning materials and requirements, including:

- Uniform/Shoes
- CPR Card
- Physical Exam
