Discovering Academic and Career Programs for High Schools

NEW: Exciting refreshed programs of study are set to roll out, starting in the 2024-2025 academic year.

The Perkins V legislation at the federal level mandates that states receiving CTE funding must align their Career and Technical Education programs with occupations that are high-wage, in-demand, and require high-level skills. In response to this, the Division of College, Career, and Military Preparation has collaborated with professionals from various sectors including the workforce, secondary education, and higher education. This collaboration has been crucial in advising and developing, and recently refreshing, programs of study. These programs are designed to include well-structured course sequences, industry-recognized certifications, and practical work-based learning opportunities. The aim is to ensure that every student is well-prepared for successful careers in high-wage, in-demand, and high-skill sectors within Texas and beyond.
