Elevate Your CNA Career: Specializing in Acute Care with Our Program

Are you a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in California looking to expand your expertise and work in a dynamic hospital environment? The standard CNA training provides a solid foundation for roles in skilled nursing facilities, but the fast-paced, complex world of acute care hospitals demands a more specialized skillset. Our Acute Care Cna Program is designed to bridge this gap, offering advanced training to equip you for success in this critical healthcare setting.

This comprehensive 8-week Acute Care CNA program focuses on broadening your existing knowledge and refining your clinical experience to meet the specific demands of acute care environments. Unlike typical CNA programs that center on long-term care, our curriculum delves into the intricacies of hospital-based care. You’ll gain in-depth understanding of the pathophysiology, treatment protocols, and specialized nursing care required for patients with a wide range of acute conditions and diseases. While not mandatory, having a background in biology, microbiology, medical terminology, and anatomy will be beneficial as you navigate the course material.

What You Will Learn in the Acute Care CNA Program

Our program goes beyond the foundational CNA skills, providing specialized training relevant to hospital settings. Key areas of focus include:

  • Advanced Patient Monitoring: Learn to utilize hospital-grade equipment to monitor vital signs and patient conditions in acute settings.
  • Specialized Care Procedures: Master skills such as wound care, catheter care, and respiratory support specific to acutely ill patients.
  • Emergency Response: Gain confidence and competence in responding to medical emergencies within a hospital environment.
  • Understanding Acute Conditions: Develop a strong understanding of common acute illnesses, injuries, and post-operative care.
  • Hospital Protocols and Safety: Become proficient in hospital-specific safety regulations, infection control, and patient handling techniques.

Flexible Class Schedule and Convenient Location

We understand the schedules of working professionals. The Acute Care CNA program offers a convenient schedule, allowing you to balance your current commitments while advancing your career:

Please note: The schedule is subject to minor adjustments due to unforeseen circumstances such as COVID-19 related changes or holidays.

Classes are held at the Southwestern College – Higher Education Center (HEC) at Otay Mesa, located at 8100 Gigantic Street, San Diego, CA 92154. Clinical rotations, an essential part of the program, will take place at various hospital facilities in the area. Clinical site locations may vary and are subject to change to provide diverse learning experiences.
