The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center offers an exceptional four-year, ACGME-accredited journey into the field of radiology. Located in the vibrant city of Chicago, our program is committed to providing residents with comprehensive and hands-on experience across the full spectrum of radiologic techniques and practices.

Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, a leading 517-bed tertiary care facility, serves a diverse patient population, both adult and pediatric, from across the Chicagoland area and beyond. As a Level 1 trauma center – one of only four in the region and boasting the highest level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit designation in Illinois – our hospital provides residents with exposure to a high volume and wide variety of cases. Performing over 100,000 examinations annually, our residents gain invaluable experience in every facet of medical and surgical disciplines, including specialized areas like pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology.

Our residency program is driven by a team of dedicated faculty radiologists committed to resident education. Learning is fostered through a combination of personalized one-on-one instruction, engaging daily didactic lectures, and enriching case conferences. Beyond the core curriculum, residents are encouraged to participate in extracurricular scholarly activities, including research projects and quality improvement initiatives, further enhancing their academic and professional growth.

Reflecting advancements in board certification standards, the Department of Radiology has recently updated its residency curriculum. Residents benefit from rotations through all radiology subspecialties, ensuring a well-rounded and thorough education. To provide specialized pediatric expertise, our residents undertake three months of training at the renowned Lurie Children’s Hospital, the largest pediatric teaching hospital in the region. Furthermore, a month-long rotation in Nuclear Medicine at Loyola University expands their knowledge base and skillset.
