Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, a 517-bed tertiary care facility, serves a diverse adult and pediatric population on Chicago’s north side. As a Level 1 trauma center – one of only four in the Chicagoland area – and home to a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the medical center provides a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services. The high volume of cases, exceeding 100,000 exams annually, guarantees residents exposure to a broad range of medical and surgical cases, including specialized areas such as pediatrics and obstetrics/gynecology. This extensive clinical exposure is a cornerstone of the Advocate Health Care Illinois Masonic Medical Center Program.

The program’s strength lies in its commitment to resident education. Our dedicated faculty radiologists are deeply invested in shaping the next generation of radiologists through a multifaceted approach. Residents benefit from personalized, one-on-one teaching, supplemented by daily didactic lectures, and engaging case conferences. Furthermore, the program encourages and supports extracurricular scholarly activities, including research projects and quality improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

The curriculum of the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center has been recently updated to align with the American Board of Radiology’s new certification timeframe. Residents gain comprehensive experience through rotations in all radiology subspecialties. To enhance pediatric radiology expertise, the program includes three months of dedicated training at Lurie Children’s Hospital, the preeminent pediatric teaching hospital in the region. Additionally, residents receive one month of specialized training in Nuclear Medicine at Loyola University, broadening their skill set and knowledge base.
