The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is excited to announce the FY 2025 After School Programs — Non-School Districts grant, designed to bolster after-care initiatives. This funding opportunity, guided by 23 Ill. Admin. Code 268, empowers eligible organizations to create impactful after-school programs. These programs are crucial for enhancing students’ academic performance and fostering positive behavior in a nurturing environment. By encouraging partnerships between public, private, and philanthropic sectors, we aim to establish robust and lasting support systems for students facing significant challenges, thereby strengthening families and communities.
Non-school district entities, including Regional Offices of Education (ROEs), Intermediate Service Centers (ISCs), community-based organizations (including faith-based organizations), and Indian tribes or tribal organizations (as defined by the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act), are invited to apply for this grant.
To be considered, proposals must be submitted to ISBE by 4:00 p.m. on October 7, 2024. Late submissions will not be reviewed.
For comprehensive details regarding eligibility and prequalification requirements, please refer to the Notice of Funding Opportunity/Request for Proposals (NOFO/RFP) documents provided below.
This initiative is supported by Public Act 103-0589, which allocated $25 million in General Revenue funds for FY 2025 to support After School Programs Grants for both school districts and community organizations. Of this total, $17 million is designated for school district grants, and $8 million is allocated for competitive grants specifically for non-school district applicants.
The primary objectives of this funding are to:
- Enhance academic success for students through targeted after-care programs.
- Offer enriching activities in a secure and healthy after-school setting.
- Cultivate strong partnerships between public, private, and philanthropic organizations to ensure sustainable support services for at-risk students.
This After School Programs Grant, formerly known as the Healthy Community Investment Grant, represents a continued commitment to supporting our communities and students.
