Alere Care Health Management Program Expands in Texas to Support Mothers and Newborns

ATLANTA– Alere Health, LLC, a recognized leader in delivering personal health support solutions and a division of Alere Inc., has announced a significant contract with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission and the Texas Medicaid & Healthcare Partnership (TMHP). This collaboration marks the launch of comprehensive, statewide Alere Care Health Management Programs focused on Maternity and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Care Management for Texas Medicaid fee-for-service recipients.

The newly introduced Maternity program is strategically designed to empower physicians in early identification of potential risk factors during pregnancy. It prioritizes educating expectant mothers and their families, aiming to promote longer pregnancies, healthier birth weights, and reduce instances of hospitalizations. A cornerstone of this program is its proactive approach to risk assessment, conducting multiple evaluations to effectively manage women at risk of preterm labor and other pregnancy-related complications. Recognizing the need for continuous support, the program also incorporates a 24/7 nurse line, ensuring readily available assistance for women with urgent questions or concerns throughout their pregnancy and in the early postpartum period.

Complementing the Maternity program, the NICU Care Management program is set to work in close partnership with hospital teams to enhance outcomes for newborns requiring intensive care. By delivering dedicated care management services to infants and their families within the NICU and other specialized care units, the program strives to achieve higher family satisfaction rates while contributing to a reduction in overall healthcare expenditures. Alere NICU care managers play a crucial role, engaging directly with families both within the hospital setting and through round-the-clock telephone support. This consistent interaction facilitates education, provides emotional and informational support, encourages active family involvement with hospital staff, assists in preparing for the infant’s discharge from the NICU, coordinates necessary resources, and extends ongoing support to families after they return home.

Gregg Raybuck, President of Alere Health, emphasized the robust foundation of these programs: “Our NICU program’s URAC accreditation and our extensive database, encompassing over 180,000 NICU patient cases, are instrumental. This rich data informs our proprietary clinical guidelines, which have been rigorously reviewed by leading national neonatology experts.” Raybuck further highlighted the accessibility and depth of support available, stating, “Program participants benefit from 24/7 access to dedicated NICU nurse care managers and receive comprehensive educational resources specifically designed to deepen their understanding of the program and enhance infant care knowledge.”
