Amazon We Care Program Turlock: Employees Rally for Veterans in Heartfelt Campaign

In a powerful display of solidarity and gratitude, Amazon teams participated in a nationwide fundraising campaign from November 1st to 11th, coinciding with Veterans Day. This “Making a World of Difference” fundraiser was designed to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP), an organization providing critical programs and services to veterans. Employees were encouraged to log miles through running or contribute volunteer hours, fostering a sense of collective effort towards a significant goal. The ambitious target was to collectively log 24,901 miles – the equivalent of circling the Earth – a testament to the scale and ambition of Amazon’s employee engagement.

The response was overwhelming. Over 2,000 Amazon employees stepped up, collectively logging an astounding 42,182 miles, far surpassing the initial goal. This nationwide participation included significant contributions from the Amazon fulfillment center in Turlock. While the ONT9 fulfillment center in Southern California ultimately won the grand prize – the opportunity to present a $50,000 check to WWP – the Turlock facility, MCE1, played a vital role in the overall success of the campaign. The initiative also shone a spotlight on Wear Blue, another organization dedicated to honoring veterans and their families through running events, further amplifying the impact of Amazon’s efforts.

WWP utilizes these funds to provide transformative services in vital areas such as mental and brain health, financial readiness, physical health and wellness, fostering connection among veterans, and offering long-term rehabilitative care. Wally Edwards, Corporate Partnerships Director for WWP, expressed deep gratitude for Amazon’s initiative, stating, “Their support not only impacts the lives of veterans and their families but also fuels the heart of Wounded Warrior Project.
