IMCOM Professionals Enhance Skills Through Army Career Skills Program

JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas – In line with the emphasis on professional growth championed by IMCOM Commanding General Lt. Gen. Omar Jones during his December 2023 Town Hall, twelve IMCOM professionals recently completed a significant step in their career journeys. They participated in the Civilian Education System (CES) Intermediate Course, facilitated by a mobile education team from the Army Management Staff College, held at Joint Base San Antonio from February 5-23. This initiative underscores the commitment of the Army Career Skills Program Imcom to fostering a highly skilled and adaptable workforce.

The graduates, representing various IMCOM directorates, included Darlene Pantoja, Jaime Ruiz, and Brittney McClure-Crawford from G1; Brenda Bailey from G4; Andrea Burton, Dorothy Jefferson, and Marilynn Rivera-Santiago from G8; Ryan Guffey and Regina Martinez from G9; Senitta Conyers from EDCG Command Group; Keith Richardson from SGS; and Anitra Kinder from Protocol. Their participation highlights the diverse opportunities available within the army career skills program imcom.

Anitra Kinder emphasized the broader impact of such developmental programs, stating, “By promoting developmental opportunities and investing in our people, the command is creating a positive environment where we can learn that we have more to offer than just what our current position dictates. We can be self-reflective, actively listen and support our teammates and find innovative solutions to our command’s issues – even in areas where we are not necessarily the primary. It only serves to build mutual trust and a shared understanding of our commander’s intent.” Kinder’s words underscore the holistic benefits of the army career skills program imcom, extending beyond individual growth to enhance team dynamics and mission effectiveness.

Jaime Ruiz, a career skills program coordinator, found the CES Intermediate Course to be exceptionally valuable. “The course was everything I needed to be a stronger leader and professional,” Ruiz commented. “It was such an exceptional experience and more importantly I’m leaving with great lifelong friendships.” His positive feedback reinforces the effectiveness of the army career skills program imcom in providing relevant and impactful training.

Darlene Pantoja shared her initial uncertainties and subsequent positive experience: “Once I got to know them, I was able to be myself and express myself thoughtfully and with openness. The course also gave us the opportunity to further embrace the Army culture and the Service Culture at IMCOM through such practices as Core Leader attributes and competencies, critical and creative thinking, and trust and team building.” Pantoja’s insights highlight how the army career skills program imcom, through initiatives like the CES Intermediate Course, cultivates a deeper understanding of Army values and fosters professional competencies.

The successful completion of the CES Intermediate Course by these twelve IMCOM professionals exemplifies the dedication to continuous improvement and professional development within the command.
