Stay Healthy: Baylor’s Occupational Health Program Offers Free Flu Shots

Baylor College of Medicine is committed to the well-being of its community. As part of its comprehensive Occupational Health Care Program, Baylor is providing free flu vaccinations for all students, residents, staff, and faculty. This initiative underscores the importance of preventative health measures in maintaining a healthy and productive environment for everyone at Baylor.

Getting your annual flu vaccine is a crucial step in protecting yourself and those around you. While the Occupational Health Program (OHP) makes vaccinations readily accessible, you also have the option to receive your flu shot from your primary care physician, a local clinic, or a pharmacy. Regardless of where you choose to get vaccinated, Baylor College of Medicine requires all personnel to complete a brief online attestation form by November 29, 2024, confirming their vaccination status.

The OHP is making it easy to get your flu shot by offering walk-in appointments during regular clinic hours.

Convenient Flu Shot Scheduling

To further streamline the vaccination process, Baylor has launched a user-friendly Flu Scheduling App.

  • Accessing the Flu App: You can access the Flu App through this link.
  • Login Credentials: Simply log in using your existing ECA/BCM username and password.
  • Multi-Factor Authentication: If you are accessing the app from off-campus, you will need to use BCM multi-factor authentication for secure access. More details on multi-factor authentication can be found here.
  • Appointment Scheduling: Please schedule only ONE appointment slot to ensure fair access for everyone. New appointment slots are added regularly throughout the flu season, so check back if you don’t find an immediate opening.
  • High-Dose Vaccine Availability: For individuals aged 65 and older, the high-dose (HD) flu vaccine is available based on supply. While the Flu clinics will have some HD vaccine on hand, availability may vary. You can also visit the Occupational Health clinic during business hours to inquire about receiving the HD vaccine.

Baylor’s occupational health care program recognizes the diverse needs of its community, including senior members. The availability of the high-dose vaccine is a testament to this commitment, ensuring comprehensive protection against the flu for all age groups within the Baylor family.

Mandatory Flu Vaccination Attestation

Baylor College of Medicine’s policy requires all faculty, staff, and students to receive and attest to their annual flu vaccination.

  • Attestation Link: Complete the mandatory attestation form by November 29, 2024, through this link.
  • Documentation: It is crucial to retain documentation of your flu vaccination, especially if you received it outside of OHP. Many hospitals and clinical facilities require proof of flu vaccination for entry and participation.
  • Clinical Trial Exemption: If you are actively enrolled in a bona fide clinical trial (with an NCT number), you are required to provide proof of enrollment to be considered compliant with Baylor’s policy.
  • Further Information: For a comprehensive understanding of Baylor’s influenza and COVID-19 vaccination policy, please refer to the official policy document available here.

Baylor College of Medicine’s occupational health care program is dedicated to fostering a healthy and safe environment. Getting your flu shot and completing the attestation are simple yet vital steps in ensuring the well-being of our entire community during this flu season. Take advantage of this free service and contribute to a healthier Baylor for all.
