Practical Nursing Program

Launch your nursing career with our acclaimed Practical Nursing (PN) program, the only hospital-based PN program in Connecticut. In response to the growing demand for nurses, our innovative 14-month program blends virtual and in-person learning for enhanced flexibility. You’ll gain invaluable hands-on experience through skills labs, advanced simulations, and real-world clinical rotations within Griffin Hospital’s inpatient units. Graduates are prepared for immediate employment in acute care settings and can further enhance their credentials with a Planetree Fellowship in Person-Centered Care certification.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program

Begin your healthcare journey with our Accelerated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. In just six weeks and 108 hours, you can become a state-certified CNA. We offer six program start dates per year with both day and evening classes, based on enrollment. The curriculum covers essential skills such as infection control, patient communication, personal care techniques, and vital signs monitoring. Clinical experience is provided at both extended care facilities and Griffin Hospital, ensuring comprehensive preparation for the state certification exam. Tuition includes all necessary materials, including the course book, CPR certification, and malpractice insurance.

Patient Care Technician (PCT) Program

Become a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in just 15 weeks! Our PCT program, offered three times annually, provides hands-on training using state-of-the-art simulation equipment. The 15-week course includes 13 weeks of classroom instruction and a four-week clinical rotation at Griffin Hospital. Classes are conveniently scheduled with both day and evening options. The comprehensive tuition covers books, malpractice insurance, CPR certification, and national certification exam fees. Graduates are eligible to sit for both national Patient Care Technician and Phlebotomy exams, and also qualify to register for the CT CNA exam, significantly broadening their career prospects.

Phlebotomy Program

Enter the field of medical laboratory science with our Phlebotomy program. In just 13 weeks, you can gain the skills to become a certified phlebotomist. Offered three times a year with day and evening sessions, our program combines hands-on training with a 32-40 hour externship to provide practical experience in blood sample collection and handling. Tuition includes all learning resources, malpractice insurance, CPR certification, and a national certification exam fee.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Program

Advance your administrative and clinical skills with our Certified Clinical Medical Assistant program. This comprehensive 22-week program, featuring a new hybrid learning option, prepares you for a versatile role in healthcare settings. Medical Assistants are in high demand to support physicians and other healthcare providers in clinics, medical offices, and hospitals. The program includes 600 hours of classroom instruction and a 160-hour clinical externship, covering a wide range of topics from medical terminology and anatomy to clinical procedures and electronic health records. Upon completion, graduates are eligible for multiple national certification exams, including Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, and Clinical Administrative Medical Assistant.
