The American Quarter Horse Foundation is actively inviting grant applications from eligible organizations dedicated to providing Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) for individuals facing emotional, physical, and cognitive challenges. The America’s Horse Cares Grant program is specifically designed to bolster these vital services through targeted financial support.
Funding from this grant is strictly designated for enhancing the professional development of staff and volunteers. This encompasses individualized training programs for employees and volunteers, as well as comprehensive center immersion training opportunities. It is important to note that the grant’s scope is limited to these two key areas of training. Applications proposing projects outside of employee and volunteer training or center immersion will not be considered for funding. Successful applicants are required to furnish proof of workshop attendance or course completion upon conclusion of the training. Failure to provide this documentation may result in probationary action for the organization.
For organizations located within Arizona, the America’s Horse Cares Grant program extends its support to include client scholarships. These scholarships are intended to alleviate the financial burden associated with program services and facility maintenance, thereby increasing accessibility for clients in need within Arizona.
To be eligible for the America’s Horse Cares Grant program, applicant organizations must meet specific criteria:
- The organization must operate as a facility utilizing horses to deliver equine assisted activities and therapies to individuals with special needs.
- The organization must hold tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and have been in operation for a minimum of three years.
- Preference is given to organizations holding membership in recognized industry associations such as the American Hippotherapy Association, Certified Horsemanship Association, Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association, or Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International.
- Grant funds awarded must be directly applied to cover approved educational expenses related to training.
- To maximize the reach of the America’s Horse Cares Grant program, organizations that have received and been funded for an application within the 24 months prior to the current application cycle are not eligible for consideration this year.
It is crucial to understand that the America’s Horse Cares Grant program does not cover travel expenses associated with attending conferences, workshops, or clinics. This explicitly excludes funding for hotel accommodations and transportation costs, including flights and vehicle expenses. Further details regarding available training options can be found through Additional information on training options.
Organizations committed to providing vital equine assisted activities and therapies are encouraged to explore the opportunities provided by the America’s Horse Cares Grant program to enhance their training initiatives and support client access in Arizona.
